We are looking for 3 types of founders: builders, sales wizards & stewards.

Building it, Selling it, Stewarding it… what do you excel at?

  • Building it. You are exceptionally good at some technical skill. You are a food scientist, a soil biologist, a product designer, a hydrologist, a software developer, a nutritionist, etc. With your deep technical expertise you are poised to become the Product lead at the innovative business we’re about to build together.

  • Selling it. You are a sales superstar, ready to transform Uganda’s food system by putting your commercial talent to use and closing deals. You are charismatic and results-oriented. Tired of just selling anything? Join to co-own the business and sell an impactful solution that contributes positively to society!

  • Stewarding it. You are hands-on and outstanding in looking after the money and steering the business towards its purpose and success. You have experience and demonstrated abilities in execution and driving business growth, which, as you know, in entrepreneurship starts with rolling up your sleeves.

The application and selection process will run in 5 steps.

It’s an opportunity for us to get to know you, and for you to gauge whether you are made for changing the food system and joining Rootical as a future founder.

How to apply?

  • Building a business that matters is serious business. Before applying, make sure to read through our website, join or rewatch one of the Rootical webinars, and check the FAQ section to make sure you are up for the challenge and Rootical comes at the right time in your life.

  • Do you have what it takes to become a Rootical Founder? Will you have time to commit?

    To help you decide whether to apply, we will first provide a self-scan tool with a series of clarifying questions to help you decide whether Rootical is a good fit for you.

  • Next you will be guided to complete your full application via our selection platform. This is where we want to get to know you better: your talent, skills, drive, aspirations, and potential as a future founder.

    The selection process will include a series of questions to uncover your business acumen, cognitive abilities, financial literacy, and grit. You’re getting close, so go the extra mile.

  • If selected, we will contact you for a phone interview. This is where you will start putting in sweat to become a Rootical Founder. We will call up to 120 people in this final selection round.

  • The first stage of the Rootical Founder journey is a 7-days, intensive food system leadership course. This stage is designed as part of our ongoing selection process.

    24 Of the 50 participants in this bootcamp will be invited for the next stage as potential founders of the businesses we will build together. All 50 will become part of the Rootical family to shake up the food system in one way or another!

Join our 3-step journey to build a regenerative business that addresses key challenges in the Ugandan food system.

We are looking for 50 Ugandan entrepreneurs to:

Become trained food system leaders and conduct a participatory analysis to identify key food system challenges.

1.

Identify, test and iterate on solutions to address those challenges and design profit-for-purpose business models to deliver impact at scale.

2.

Build teams around your regenerative agri-food business and get ready for take-off.

3.

Six businesses will be co-founded per cohort to work towards product-market fit, incorporate based on steward ownership principles & onboard impact-aligned investors.
